What is MAPIL?

Advanced Solutions that Stick

At MAPIL we seek out advanced solutions that stick by thinking outside the box, focusing on resilient problem solving, and creating solutions to improve our world.

Established as the permanent home for multilevel trans-disciplinary smart surface research, the Mizzou Asphalt Pavement and Innovation Lab is a research and collaboration center located on the David R. Francis Quadrangle at the University of Missouri in the College of Engineering.

Investing in Missouri’s Future

The Missouri Asphalt and Paving Association (MAPA) recognized the need for a centrally-located world-class asphalt program. Supporting MAPIL not only connects students to jobs and employers to prospects, it also ensures Missouri’s asphalt and paving industry will remain positioned at the forefront of emerging green and recycled materials technology.

Through the generosity of MAPA’s members, the Barton family, and the University of Missouri/State of Missouri, MAPIL is equipped with the facilities, technology and facility it needs to place among most comprehensive asphalt programs in the world.
